Boowambillee [booh-uhm-'bil-ee] is the Eora name for Shark Island — one of the sandstone landforms scattered throughout Sydney Harbour. The table’s soft, irregular top shape is inspired by these natural islands, their wind-sculpted cliffs, and the flowing contours of the Australian coastline. Crafted from solid Victorian ash , the organic tabletop is supported by solid Sydney sandstone legs — a grounding element that connects the piece to Country both literally and symbolically. Sandstone has shaped Sydney’s story for over 200 million years, from ancient First Nations rock engravings to colonial architecture, making it both materially rich and culturally significant.
